Biography
Born on January 28, 1961 in the city of Kosterevo, Vladimir Region, in the family of a master in a heating plant and a lawyer .
In 1978 he graduated from high school. In 1983 he graduated from the History Department of Ivanovo State University .
From July 1983 to July 1984, he was the senior subdeacon of the Bishop of Ivanovo and Kinesham, Ambrose (Schurov) .
In 1984 he entered the Moscow Theological Seminary.
In 1985 - 1986 he served in the Armed Forces of the USSR in the Chita Region.
In 1986 - 1988, he was the senior subdeacon of the rector of the MDAiS Bishop Alexander of Dmitrov (Timofeev) .
March 24, 1988, the governor of the Trinity-Sergius Lavra, Archimandrite Alexy (Kutepov), was tonsured a monk with the name Justinian in honor of the noble king Justinian the Great .
Since 1988 he studied at the Theological Institute of Bucharest ( Romania ), which he graduated in 1992 with a master 's degree in theology ; the theme of the thesis is “The History of Russian Old Believers — Lipovan in Romania”.
In 1991, he worked as a referent for the Department for External Church Relations of the Moscow Patriarchate.
Bishops
September 1, 1995 in the Moscow Donskoy Monastery was consecrated bishop of Dubossary, vicar of the Chisinau diocese.
On October 6, 1998, he was appointed bishop of the newly formed Tiraspol and Dubossary diocese .
February 25, 2008 was elevated to the rank of archbishop . [2]
March 8, 2009 , on the feast of the Triumph of Orthodoxy , restored 140 years later (the mention of the names of state criminals in the rank of the Triumph of Orthodoxy was abolished in 1869), the tradition of anathematizing the hetman Ivan Mazepa according to the rank drawn up in 1708 by Metropolitan Stefan (Yavorsky) . On July 27, 2009, by a decision of the Holy Synod, he was included in the Inters Cathedral Assembly [4] .
On March 5, 2010, he was relieved of his post as the managing director of the Tiraspol and Dubossary diocese and was appointed managing director of the Patriarchal Parishes in the USA, Vicar of His Holiness Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia, and Archbishop of Naro-Fominsky [5] .
From July 26, 2012 to June 17, 2013, by decision of the Holy Synod, he temporarily governed the Argentine and South American diocese . [6]
On July 25, 2014, by the decision of the Holy Synod of the Russian Orthodox Church, he was elected ruling bishop of the Elista diocese [7] .
It was not included in the new composition of the Inter-Council Presidency, approved on October 23, 2014 by the decision of the Holy Synod of the Russian Orthodox Church [8] .
