B Carina (B Car) is a star in the constellation Kiel . This is a yellow-white dwarf star of spectral class F, having a visible luster of +4.74, and the star is 69.8 light years away from Earth . in Russia it is not observed, it is visible only in the southern hemisphere , and in the northern - near the equator . Visible only on a clear night with the naked eye with a good eye of the observer.
Physical characteristics
HD 68456, like the Sun , is a main sequence star, having a spectral class of F5V and a temperature of 6305 K [1] . The star is 28% more massive than the Sun [2] , and its luminosity is 5 times greater than the solar one, clearly showing how a small increase in the mass of the star affects the amount of radiation. This star is younger than the Sun, with an estimated age of 2.43 billion years [3] . The rotational speed of B Car is at least 15 km / s [4] , and its metallicity value is 44% of solar ([Fe / H] = −0.36)
Initially, the IRAS space observatory pointed to HD 68456 as a possible candidate for the Vega ( α Lyra ) dust disk, but subsequent observations with the Spitzer space telescope indicate low infrared radiation values [1] .
