History

Inga Cup was founded in 1988. The idea of ​​such a competition was put forward by the founder of the Inga In Chanqi Foundation , the Inga Foundation also became one of the main sponsors of the tournament. Inga Cup was the second go-tournament with the status of a professional world championship, followed by the Fujitsu Championship (which was first held in the same 1988, but a few months earlier).

To date, eight Inga Cup draws have been held, in five of which players from South Korea won and in three from China.

Rules

  • The tournament is held once every four years.
  • 24 professional players from four countries participate: Korea, China, Taiwan and Japan.
  • The game follows the rules of Inga .
  • Between the participants a tournament is held according to the Olympic system (for elimination) , while 8 participants go immediately to the second round. (In the first Inga Cup draw, 16 participants played a regular elimination tournament among themselves).
  • Before the semi-finals, one game is played in each round. In the semifinal matches are played in three games to two victories. In the final, a match is played from five games to three victories.
  • The winner receives a prize of $ 400,000.
