During the existence of the diocese, churches were built and restored in Mariupol, in Slavyansk, in the village of Svobodny, Telmanovsky District, the village of Kamenka, Telmanovsky District, the village of Novoselovka, Starobeshevsky District, the village of Krivorozhye, Dobropolsky District, the village of Blagodatnoye, Amvrosievsky District, the birthplace of Patriarch Filaret .
The cathedral was captured in 1997 from the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate Church of Peter and Paul, which was renamed the Kiev Patriarchate into Holy Transfiguration Cathedral [1] . Now it is in desolation.

Archpastors
After the creation of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Kiev Patriarchate in June 1992, the Bishop of Donetsk and Lugansk, Archimandrite Polycarp (Guts) was ordained to the Donetsk department.
From 1994 to 1995, the diocese was governed by the bishop of Donetsk and Lugansk Izyaslav (Kargha) .
In 1995 - Bishop of Donetsk and Lugansk John (Zinoviev) .
In 1996 - Bishop of Donetsk and Lugansk Joasaph (Vasilikiv) .
Since May 14, 1999, the ruling bishop of the Donetsk and Mariupol diocese has been the archbishop of Donetsk and Mariupol Yuri (Yurchik) . Forbidden in clergy by decision of the Synod of the UOC-KP.
Since November 26, 2008 - Bishop of Donetsk and Mariupol Sergius (Gorobtsov) .
