The presidential election in Transnistria - took place on December 1, 1991 , it was the first presidential election after the proclamation of the PMR . Together with the president, the vice-president of the PMR was elected.

Candidates
Three pairs of candidates participated in the Elections:
- Igor Smirnov (candidate for president) and Alexander Karaman (candidate for vice president),
- Grigory Marakutsa (candidate for president) and Boris Akulov (candidate for vice president),
- Grigory Blagodarny (presidential candidate) and Lyudmila Alferyeva (vice-presidential candidate).
Result
Igor Smirnov was elected President of the PMR, for whom 65.4% of the Transnistrians who took part in the vote voted.
Grigory Marakutsa won 31% of the vote, Grigory Grateful 1.5%. In total, 372 thousand people, or 78% of the citizens included in the voting lists, participated in the elections.
