Aksubayevsky district ( tat. Aksubay districts ) is an administrative-territorial unit and a municipality ( municipal district ) within the Republic of Tatarstan of the Russian Federation . It is located in the south of the republic, in the Zakamsky economic region.

The administrative center is the urban-type settlement of Aksubaevo , located 180 km from Kazan , 58 km from the railway station Nurlat and 85 km from the pier of the city of Chistopol .
Geography
It borders Chistopolsky , Novosheshminsky , Cheremshansky , Nurlatsky and Alekseevsky districts.
The area is 1,439.16 km².

- National composition
The region is characterized by the maximum share of the Chuvash population in Tatarstan and is the only region of the republic where the largest ethnic group is not Tatars and non-Russians.
At the beginning of 2013, 44.3% were Chuvash , 38.5% were Tatars , 16.6% were Russians and 0.6% were representatives of other nationalities.

Economy
The main industry is agriculture.
- Agriculture
The main activity is the production of grain. Winter rye, spring and winter wheat, barley, sugar beets and potatoes are cultivated in the region. The leading livestock industries are meat and dairy cattle and pig breeding.
- Industry
The industry of the district is represented by the following companies: Aksubayevsky Production Site LLC, Aksubayev Production Plant Production Association.
- Natural resources
Geologically, the territory of the region is composed of rocks represented by carbonate clays with intercalations of limestone, sandstones and brown-gray sands. The most important mineral in the area is oil. 6 deposits have been discovered in the region: Eryklinskoe, Suncheleevskoe, Demkinskoe, Mydovskoe, Ibraykinskoe, Ivinskoe. Also an important natural resource is brick clay.
Of the other types of natural resources of the area, it is necessary to note the land and forest.
- Transport
Highways 16K-0098 “Chistopol-Aksubayevo- Nurlat ”, 16K-0131 “Nurlat-Kuzaykino ( R239 )” pass through the district.
