16th Infantry Brigade

Formed in October 1941 in the village of Sitniki (?), Borsky district of the Gorky region , 11/09/1942, the brigade was replenished by cadets of the Telavi military infantry school

In November 1941, she concentrated around the village of Olginskaya , occupying a starting position for an attack on the southern bank of the Don , opposite the village of Aksayskaya with the task of crossing the ice across the Don and advancing on the outskirts of Rostov - the village of Frunze, and then entering the western outskirts of the city. 2711.1941 by the end of the day as a result of the attack, the brigade occupied the outskirts of the city. On the fifth day of the offensive, the brigade advanced more than 100 kilometers and took up positions on the Sambek River , northeast of Taganrog . A further offensive was unsuccessful. Since the summer of 1942, it fought back to the Caucasus on the left flank of the 56th Army . She fought in the Kuban , on 10.08.1942, her remnants occupied the left flank of the line along the Belaya River from the village of Verbin to Maikop . 09/08/1942 was transferred to Novorossiysk . Later she took part in the Krasnodar offensive , on January 24, 1943 she concentrated in the area between the villages of Stavropol and Azov, liberated the villages of Azov, Severskaya and by February 18, 1943 reached the line of the Bugundyr river, opposite Abinsk

In March 1943, the 30th Infantry Division was created on the basis of the brigade.
