Percussionist Sean Crahan said in an interview with The Pulse of Radio that “when you listen to this song you get a feeling of, let's say, social anxiety. At the moment we have a good rhythm, it’s really funny and diverse. ” [6]
Journalists from Rolling Stone , after listening to the song, noted that: ““ Psychosocial ”slows down the drums, reminiscent of the evil thrash- style of the band’s second album - Iowa . The track is accompanied by heavy destructive guitars and drums. ” [7]
And journalists from Total Guitar noted that “The first single contains rhythmic riffs that sound like a trench warfare that spans thousands of miles. Classic for Slipknot melodic chorus. ” [8]
Band vocalist Corey Taylor said: “The song has a mechanical sharpness in the style of Rammstein / Ministry , but my vocals added something genuine and human to it. Rapprochement works, and I would like to get used to it and squeeze this world to the end. The lyrics are about us, and the fact that we can succeed when we pay attention to something. ” [9]
When asked if guitarist James Ruth was satisfied with the single “Psychosocial”, he replied: “This is amazing, especially because when we worked on the songs, this song, to me personally, seemed monotonous. After we mixed the songs in the studio, and when we put together this one, it came out very good overall. For me it's like a thrash song of the late 80s. When I first heard a demo of this song, it reminded me of the tune of Testament . Just because of her boom-tat, boom-tat. Or like Megadeth with their “ So Far, So Good ”, which is really cool. Reminds me of the music I grew up with. ” [10]
