Biography
Sports career
The first coach of Averbukh was Zhanna Gromova , and later Natalia Linichuk and Gennady Karponosov . Ilya Averbukh paired with Marina Anisina became the two-time world champion among juniors (in 1990 and 1992 ), but then fell in love with Irina Lobacheva , who skated with him in the same group, but with another partner. They started skating together in 1992 and got married in 1995. In 1995, they moved to the United States , where they lived and trained until the 2002 Olympics . In 1998, they successfully debuted at the Winter Olympics . In the 2001-2002 season, the couple missed all the stages of the Grand Prix series due to an injury to Irina's knee, which she received during training in September 2001.
In February 2002, the couple won silver medals at the Olympic Games in Salt Lake City (USA), and also won the World Cup.
The couple remained in amateur sports for another season, won the European Championship and became the second at the World Championships.
After Sports
After completing an amateur career, Lobacheva and Averbukh decided not to perform in professional shows in the West . They returned to Russia.
In 2004, he organized his own show on ice - the “Ice Symphony” project - theatrical ice performances with the participation of world figure skating stars, Olympic champions, world and European champions. The company was involved in organizing events such as the Russia Waiting, Italian Carnival show tour, Alexander Gorshkov ’s anniversary show, “And Music Always Forever ...” in 2006, and an anniversary show dedicated to Tatyana Tarasova’s 60th birthday in 2007.

Personal life
Parents - businessman Izyaslav Naumovich Averbukh and teacher Julia Markovna Burdo (born 1949). Brother, Daniil Averbukh (born 1990), European champion in fencing (foil) among cadets.
From 1995 to 2007, he was married to his figure skating partner Irina Lobacheva (born 18.02.1973). They have a son, Martin (born in 2004).
