Biography
Katherine Juliet Ross was born on January 29, 1940 in Hollywood . Her family later moved to Walnett Creek, an eastern suburb of San Francisco . She studied at Las Lomas High School and Diablo Valley College in Pleasant Hill, California , where she began her acting career with participation in the filming of a student film.
In the movie, she is best known for her role as Elaine Robinson in the movie Graduate (1967) with Dustin Hoffman and the role of Etta Place in Butch Cassidy and Sundance Kid (1969) with Paul Newman and Robert Redford in the lead roles.
During the filming of the film “ Psychic ” (1978), Ross met actor Sam Elliott , whom she married in 1984 [3] . The couple has a daughter, Cleo, whose relationship with the parents is not easy. In March 2011, 71-year-old Katherine appealed to the Los Angeles Supreme Court about the attempt on her life by her 26-year-old daughter. In accordance with the testimony of Katherine Ross, which came to the disposal of the magazine " People ", the problems with her daughter began in her teens, before the situation worsened in early 2011 and the events took a publicized turn. That day, according to the actress, her daughter kicked her in the kitchen cabinet, and then, waving her scissors, she shouted to her mother: "I want to kill you." Fleeing her daughter around the house, Ross tried to call the police. However, the girl cut the telephone line and threatened her mother to gouge out her eyes, reaching the point that she cut her hands in six places. On March 30, 2011, the Santa Monica court issued a restraining order ordering Cleo Ross Elliot to be no closer than 100 meters from his parents [4] .
