Description
Outwardly, morel is very similar to morel conical . It differs in a darker color and larger sizes of the fruiting body ( apothecia ) (5-15 cm, up to 25-30 cm in height).
The cap is narrow, conical, 4-10 tall and 3-5 cm wide. The surface is covered with approximately triangular cells bounded by more or less parallel vertical narrow folds. The cells are olive-brown, in mature mushrooms - brown or black-brown; partitions are olive-ocher; the color of the fungus darkens with age.
The leg-shaped part of the fungus is cylindrical, granular, 5-15 cm high and 3-4 cm thick, almost equal in diameter to the top of the cap. In young mushrooms, the leg is whitish, later yellowish or ocher.
Spore powder is white, cream or yellowish, spores are ellipsoidal, (18-25) × (11-15) microns.
