A Brief History
The party appeared in 1945 after leaving the Left Socialist Party (LSP) of a group led by Ewald Höglund , Gottfrid Nyberg and Anton Nilson . Then she adopted the name Independent Workers Party , NRP ( Oberoende Arbetarpartiet , OAP ). The reason for the split was, in the opinion of the Hoglund – Nielson group, a pro-Western LSP course. The NPP started publishing the newspaper Vårt Ord ( Our word , two issues came out).
In 1949, the NPF was transformed into the group “ Revolutionary Socialists ”, RS ( Revolutionära Socialister , RS ). Then it became the first Swedish section of the Fourth International. The following year, 1950, the group changed its name to RSP. The party took part in the 1950 municipal elections in Stockholm , which won about 1900 votes. She also actively participated in the 1951 dockers strike. She published the newspaper Internationalen (two issues came out).
In accordance with the decision of the World Congress of the Fourth International of 1951 on Entrism in the Social Democratic and Communist Parties, the RSP was to join the Social Democratic Party . Activists of the organization opposed this decision. The organization actually ceased to exist in 1953-1954.
