Donguz training ground (full name - Testing Ground of the Federal State Budgetary Institution of the 3rd Central Research Institute of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation ) is a Russian military training ground in the Central Military District .
Previously called the Scientific and Testing Air Defense Testing Ground of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation , military unit 33157, the Scientific Testing Anti-Aircraft-Artillery Testing Ground - NIZAP .
Located in the Orenburg region southwest of the Donguzskaya railway station. The administrative and residential center of the landfill is the village of Pervomaisky, Orenburg district .
Designed to test anti-aircraft missile weapons of the air defense forces and conduct military exercises using this weapon.
The landfill area is 121,000 ha. [1] The northern border of the landfill is 20 km south of Orenburg . The length of the landfill from north-east to south-west is about 80 km, width is 30-40 km.

At the training ground there is a military airfield , now abandoned.
History
It was founded in 1934 to test anti-aircraft artillery, equipment and weapons for the air defense forces , MLRS and conduct military exercises using this type of weapon. Until the development and testing of the first air defense systems of the country's air defense forces, it was the only anti-aircraft ground of the USSR, on which all newly created anti-aircraft artillery weapons and radar equipment were tested.
The famous Katyusha was tested in Donguz, as well as other multiple launch rocket systems and air defense systems - Grad , {MLRS} Prima Smerch and Hurricane , artillery systems Msta-S , Hyacinth [ specify ] , such complexes as S-60 , " Shilka ", " Cube ", " Arrow-1 ", " Arrow-2 ", " Arrow-3 ", " Arrow-10 ", " Igla-1 ", " Tunguska ”, OTR Tochka-U . In the early 1960s, the Emba training ground was created in Kazakhstan , and the most complex tests of new air defense equipment were carried out there.
At the end of September 2008, the final phase of the Center-2008 operational-strategic exercises (OSU) was held at the Donguz training ground. [2] About 12 thousand military personnel, about two thousand units of armored vehicles, about 50 aircraft of the Russian Air Force were involved in the exercises. The exercises were attended by Russian President D. A. Medvedev .
On October 9, 2012, a powerful explosion occurred at the Donguz test site - there were a detonation of 4000 tons of shells. [3]
On September 19, 2015, the final stage of the Center-2015 strategic command and staff exercises, which was visited by Russian President Vladimir Putin [4], took place at the training ground.
