Kadimism (from Arabic. قديم - old, ancient ) is a conservative movement in Tatar society and among Muslims of Russia con. XIX - beg. XX centuries Supporters of Kadimism defended the patriarchal foundations of life , waged an active struggle against religious reformism, Jadidism , adhered to the scholastic system in the field of education and upbringing.
The movement was based on the teachings of the schools of ancient religious leaders Abu Hanif , Maturidi, al-Ghazali and was aimed at maintaining unchanged Islamic moral values and institutions. The Kadimists denied the modern interpretation of the Qur'an and Sunnah ; prevented the implementation of school reforms, did not recognize the equal rights of women.
They had their own print publications: in Orenburg - the magazine “Din wa Magishat” (“Religion and Life”, Orenburg, 1906-1918).
Famous representatives: I. Dinmukhammetov ( Ishmi Ishan ), Sh. Mukhammatov, G. Mukhutdinov. Ishans I. Dinmukhammadov , Galikeevs, G. G. Kurbangaliev , M. V. Khusainov saw the only way for the development of Turkic-Muslim society in unconditional adherence to the canons of Sharia .
