Are You Experienced is the debut album of The Jimi Hendrix Experience . The album showed the highest skill of Jimi Hendrix as an innovative guitarist, composer and made him a superstar.

The album became number 2 in the UK charts, losing first place to The Beatles Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band .
For the American version of the album, the cover, order and composition were changed. “Red House”, “Can You See Me” and “Remember” were removed, and three singles were added instead: “Purple Haze”, “ Hey Joe ” and “The Wind Cries Mary”. After Jim El Hendricks' father sued his son's recording rights, Are You Experienced was reissued at Universal Records Worldwide.
Many consider Are You Experienced the most successful debut album in rock music. In 2003, VH1 placed Are You Experienced in fifth place on the list of greatest albums of all time.

Being disappointed with the cover of the British edition of the album, Hendricks attracted the photographer Karl Ferris ( Eric Clapton , Hollies ) to the work, giving him complete freedom: “Go on your psychedelic journey. As far as possible ” [6] .
Ferris visited the studio while working on the next Axis album : Bold as Love and found the Experience music very distinctive. He used a huge lens for a spherical effect and Kodak infrared film (used at that time on Lockheed U-2 spy scouts). A jacket with a peacock pattern Ferris chose from Hendrix's wardrobe; he beat his girlfriend to comb his hair: “In those days no one had worn an“ afro ”hairstyle. When the guys from the group saw him, they themselves wanted to such. But they had to do chemistry. ” The shooting took place on June 6 and 7, 1967 in the London Kew Botanical Garden [6] .
Ferris subsequently worked on covers for Electric Ladyland and Smash Hits [6] .
