Miriam (Maryam) Rajavi (nee Miriam Kajar Azodanlu , pers. مریم رجوی ; born 1953 , Tehran , Iran ) - Iran’s left-wing political activist, wife of Masoud Rajavi , founder of the Mujahideen organization of the Iranian people , “acting president” of the National Resistance Council Iran [1] . The organization, headed by M. Rajavi, in the 1980s. led an active armed struggle against the Iranian authorities and enjoyed the support of Saddam Hussein , however, in the 1990s. gradually transformed into a more peaceful opposition organization of immigrants from Iran.

In June 2008, the British government removed its organization from the list of terrorist organizations (other EU countries did not support this decision) [2] .
Biography
Miriam Radjavi was born in 1953 in Tehran in a middle-class family, was educated in metallurgy. Since the 1970s participates in the anti-Shah underground, and after the Islamic revolution , having become disillusioned with it, participates in the underground anti-Khomeinist movement. In 1982 she moved to Paris , where the headquarters of the National Council of Resistance was located. In 1993, she was elected President of the National Resistance Council of Iran [3] . An interesting fact is that during its patronage women occupied many key positions in this movement [4] .
On June 17, 2003, she was arrested by the French police, among 165 activists of the movement, on suspicion of terrorism.
