Endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) is a method for studying bile ducts and pancreatic ducts , based on their filling through an endoscope with an X-ray contrast substance and observation through an X-ray unit .
For ERPC, duodenoscopes with lateral optics are used, which makes it possible to examine in detail the large duodenal papilla and cannulate it. The time taken for cannulation is determined by many factors (it can vary from 10 to 90 minutes).
Endoscopic Papillosphincterotomy
Endoscopic nasobiliary papillosphincterotomy (or Endoscopic sphincterotomy ) is a surgical endoscopic intervention consisting in the dissection of the large duodenal papilla , aimed at normalizing the bile outflow and / or functioning of the Oddi sphincter . It is performed during the ERCP. It is used to remove stones from the bile ducts, as well as for treatment, including dysfunction of the sphincter of Oddi . [one]
