Scolopendra ( lat. Scolopendra ) is a genus of leg- footed millipedes from the order of scolopendra ( Scolopendromorpha ).

Name Etymology
The name is from other Greek. σκολόπενδρα “ millipede ”, “ wood lice ”, “sandbill” , which from σκόλοψ is a “stockade” and ἔντερον is a “worm”.
Ecology
Scolopendra are active predators that feed mainly on insects and other invertebrates. Larger specimens were observed hunting frogs, tarantulas, lizards, snakes, rodents, and even bats. They live in areas with a warm climate. In 2016, the first among millipedes waterfowl species Scolopendra cataracta was discovered.
Systematics
The genus Scolopendra includes about 90 species [1] .
