Biography
Born July 1, 1946 in Helsinki, in the family of a Finnish politician - Sakari Tuomioja , the Prime Minister of Finland in 1953-1954.
In 1971 he defended his master's thesis in political science at the University of Helsinki , and in 1974 he defended a thesis in economics.
Political Activities
From 1970 to 1979 and from 1991 - Member of the Finnish Parliament .
From February 25, 2000 to April 19, 2007 - Minister of Foreign Affairs in the governments of Paavo Lipponen , Anneli Jaatteenäki and Matti Vanhanen .
On June 22, 2011, during the formation of a new cabinet of ministers, he was re-appointed Minister of Foreign Affairs of Finland .
