Biography
He participated in the Second Boer War (1899-1902) .
During the First World War in 1914-1917 he was an English representative at the Russian headquarters . In 1918-1919 he headed the British Prisoners of War department. From 1920 to 1934 he was marshal of the diplomatic corps at the royal court.
In the years 1911-1921 was a member of the IOC from Canada . In 1922 he published a book of memoirs, "Nicholas II as I knew him" ( Eng. The Emperor Nicholas II, as I knew him ). He was known for his anti-Bolshevik convictions, became one of the founders of the Liberty League .
He died in 1946 on his 87th birthday.
