2009 European Figure Skating Championships

The 2009 European Figure Skating Championships took place from January 19 to January 25, 2009 in Helsinki ( Finland ) at the Hartwall Arena . Athletes competed in the men's and women's singles, pair figure skating and ice dancing categories. Participants were athletes who, on July 1, 2008, turned 15 years old.

Mandatory dance - Finnstep [1] .

Events

  • Since the championship due to a shoulder injury received by a partner in demonstration performances after the Grand Prix finals , the French dance couple Isabelle Delobel and Olivier Schonfelder starred . Delobel will have an operation, but the duo expected to recover by the World Cup [2] [3] .
  • Did not come to the championship and the Swiss loner Sara Mayer [4] [3] .
  • After the compulsory dance, the Russians Oksana Domnina and Maxim Shabalin withdrew from the tournament due to the aggravation of the partner’s old injury [5] .
  • During the execution of the free program, the Israeli girl Ekaterina Sokolova, when falling from a jump, cut her leg with a blade of a skate. Skaters had to stop performing [6] . Further, the injury was not severe [7] .
