The seal of Guam is also in the middle of the flag of Guam . It depicts Aghanyu Bay near Hagatna , proa and palm [1] . Approved by Governor C.A. Pownell in 1946 [2]
- Coconut tree ("Tree of Life") is a symbol of Guam [3] .
- The red border of the seal symbolizes the blood that the inhabitants of Guam shed during World War II .
- Proa is a traditional boat of locals.
