Dr. Mario is a three-in-a-row puzzle game [1] in which Mario takes on the role of a doctor by throwing two-tone pills into a bottle that represents the playing field. Using pills, the player needs to neutralize three varieties of viruses placed in a vessel. In the manner and style of Dr. Mario is similar to Tetris [2] . Each pill consists of two multi-colored halves (in total, the game uses pills in six color combinations, three monochromatic and multi-colored). By rotating the pills, the player must make up the rows of the virus and three elements of the same color with it. The completed design disappears, making room for the continuation of the game and the destruction of the remaining viruses. The level is considered passed if all viruses are neutralized. The game ends if the rows of pills, reaching the top, block the narrow neck of the bottle [3] .

The player is first shown the options screen, where he can select the initial level, game speed and music. The player’s score is based solely on the number of viruses eliminated and the selected game speed, with bonus points for cleaning a large number of viruses in one line at a time. The game has no fixed end, and the player can go further and accumulate points even after winning at level 20 [3] .

The game also has a multiplayer game mode in which 2 players compete with each other on separate playing fields. The task of each player is to clear his playing field before the other player does it [3] .
