Louis Svechensky ( Croatian Louis Svećenski , real name Ludewit Kohn , Croatian Ljudevit Kohn ; November 7, 1862 , Osijek - June 18, 1926 , Boston ) - American violist of Croatian descent.

He studied in Zagreb at the Croatian Music Institute with Ivan Hare , then at the Vienna Conservatory . After graduating from it in 1885 , he left for the USA, where he took a new name and surname. In the USA, Svechensky entered the Boston Symphony Orchestra and at the same time the Kneisel Quartet , whose permanent violist was subsequently throughout the entire 32 years of the ensemble's existence. Svechensky also taught at the Juilliard School .
