Achinsky alumina complex ( AGK ) is the largest alumina production enterprise in Russia. Located in the city of Achinsk, Krasnoyarsk Territory . It is part of the aluminum company RUSAL . The official name is the National Antarctic Society “RUSAL Achinsky Alumina Combine” ; abbreviated name - JSC RUSAL Achinsk . The Achinsk Alumina Combined Heat and Power Plant operates.

History
For the development of the domestic aluminum industry , as part of the creation of an energy-metallurgical complex in the Krasnoyarsk Territory (as part of the Achinsk Alumina Plant, the Krasnoyarsk Aluminum Plant and the Krasnoyarsk Hydroelectric Power Plant ), on July 5, 1955 , the Government of the USSR decided to build a minefield of nepheline and alumina plant near the city of Achinsk. The first alumina was obtained in 1970.
Production
AGK is engaged in the processing of nepheline ore to produce alumina G-00 [2] , soda ash , aluminum hydroxide and potassium sulfate .
The design capacity of the plant is 900 thousand tons of alumina per year. Since 2002, alumina production exceeds the design capacity and in 2008 amounted to 1.069 million tons. The raw material base of the AGCs is comprised of the Kiya-Shaltyrsky nepheline mine ( Kemerovo region ), where ore is mined by the open method, and the Mazul limestone mine (the city of Achinsk). AGK works on a unique technology developed by the All-Russian (All-Union) Aluminum-Magnesium Institute (VAMI). It is based on the method of sintering nepheline ore with limestone and the subsequent hydrochemical processing of sintering. AGK is the only enterprise in the world engaged in the industrial processing of nepheline ore.
Alumina from the plant is supplied to the Krasnoyarsk , Bratsk , Irkutsk , Sayanogorsk and Novokuznetsk aluminum plants. Soda ash is sold in Russia and neighboring countries.
The plant is certified for compliance with ISO: 9001 , ISO: 14001 , OHSAS: 18001 .
Labor Conflicts
In 2002, after the conflict of the independent trade union Sotsprof with the administration of the plant, on the eve of the trial (due to the refusal to pay employees for long service), the body of the deceased trade union activist Yu.P. Smolentseva was found in a pond [3] . The Prosecutor's Office of the Russian Federation has lost the case; and the Spanish became interested in him, because the owner of the plant was engaged in money laundering in Spain [4] .
