Content
Location
The village is located 47 km (75 km by road) to the north-east of the administrative center of the region of Iquique on the Pan American Highway .
The commune borders:
- in the north - Camarones commune
- in the east - the communes of Kaminya , Kolchane , Pika
- in the south - the communes of Iquique , Alto Ospicio , Poso Almonte
- in the west - the Pacific Ocean
The municipality also includes the village of Pisagua and other villages.
History
Ouara was very badly damaged during the 2005 earthquake.
Transport
The Pan American Highway and the road that goes to Oruro in Bolivia pass through the village. This road also serves as access to the Atacama Desert and the Isluga Volcano National Park .
