Submarines Type I-51

Submarines of type I-51 ( Japanese 伊 号 第五 十一 潜水 艦 ), also known as type “KD2” - a series of Japanese diesel-electric submarines of the 1920s . Created on the basis of German submarines during the First World War , it was planned to build six boats of this type, but after the conclusion of the Washington Sea Agreement, the construction of five of them was canceled. The only submarine of this type that went into service remained in service until the outbreak of World War II , and since 1940 it has been used as a training one. It was finally withdrawn from service in 1942 and, having survived the war, was scrapped in 1948 .
