History
According to some opinions, the monastery received such a name because the river Veriazh and the nameless stream of the surrounding area, on which the monastery stands, look like a bug. [1]
For the first time it is mentioned under the year 1408 in connection with the coming to the monastery of the Novgorod Republic of St.. Michael Klopsky .
The main shrine of the monastery are the relics of St.. Michael Klopsky, resting under a bushel on the southern side of the Trinity Church.
By the states of 1764, the Klopsky Monastery was included in the number of third-class
By the decree of the Holy Synod of April 10, 1913, he converted into a women's hostel.
In 1934 the monastery was closed. In 2005, returned to the Novgorod diocese . Restoration of the monastery is conducted under the leadership of the vicar Hegumen Jacob (Efimov).
Architecture
The center of the ensemble is the four-column, three-headed Trinity Cathedral, built in the 1560s. and later built with picturesque chapels and galleries with a bell tower (not preserved). According to the fashion of the time of Grozny, the church was multi-altar . The stone church of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker with the refectory was first mentioned in the scribal books under 1581.
At the beginning of the XIX century the walls of the cathedral were imposed, its appearance changed, the temple became five-domed. At the same time, cells and a new bell tower were built. During the Great Patriotic War, the refectory church was badly damaged. In the 1960s the cathedral was mothballed, and St. Nicholas church still remains in ruins.
