Taylor, Telford

Telford Taylor ( born Telford Taylor , February 24, 1908 , Schenectady , New York - May 23, 1998 , New York ) is a well-known American lawyer, professor of law. The prosecutor at the 9th Nuremberg Trial of 1946. In addition to him, the main prosecutor at the same trial was Benjamin Ferencz .

During the Second World War, Taylor is an employee of the American intelligence service and is engaged in the search for leading members of the NSDAP and other war criminals. As the successor to Robert Jackson as chief prosecutor at the Nuremberg trials, he seeks the conviction of Nazi criminals and their political organizations.

After the war, he worked as a professor at various American universities, developing at the same time the scientific experience gained during the process in Nuremberg. During the Vietnam War, he was sharply critical of the practice of conducting US military operations and demanded that the provisions of Nuremberg apply also to crimes committed by the US military in Vietnam.
