Suzukadze ( 涼風 , "cool breeze") is a Japanese destroyer such as Shiratsuyu .
Laid on July 9, 1935 at the Uraga Dock shipyard, Tokyo. Launched on March 11, 1937 , entered service on August 31, 1937 . Participated in the capture of the Philippines and Dutch India. On July 6, 1943, the destroyer took part in the battle in Kula Bay . Suzukadze was part of a cover group for the delivery of reinforcements to Munda Island (the so- called Tokyo Express ). This time, Japanese ships (10 destroyers) were intercepted by the American 1st Task Force of the 36th Task Force (Task Group 36.1) under the command of Admiral Walden Ainsworth. During the torpedo battle with Suzukadze or Tanikadze , the American light cruiser Helena was sunk. However, the delivery of reinforcements was disrupted, and the Japanese lost two destroyers.
