Panayiotis (Takis) Fissas ( Greek Παναγιώτης (Τάκης) Φύσσας ; June 12, 1973 , Athens ) - Greek football player , left back , 2004 European champion. He played in all six matches of his team at the 2004 European Championships and was the main defender of the team, who played a big role in achieving victory in the tournament.

Club career
Greece
Fissas began his career at the Panionios Youth Academy, and made his debut for the first team in the 1990/91 season. He spent eight seasons for the club from Nea Smyrna and in 1998 won the Greek Cup . In 1998, he signed a contract with the capital's grand Panathinaikos . In the new club, Fyssas attracted the attention of the coaching staff of the national team of Greece and made his debut for the team in 1999. Fyssas played his first Champions League match in the 2000/01 season.
Foreign Clubs
In December 2003, he moved to the Lisbon Benfica , where he spent a season and a half. He helped the Eagles win the Portuguese Cup for the 2003/04 season, leveling the score in the final match against Porto , and the team won the Portuguese Championship the following season. On January 25, 2004, he was on the bench in the away match against Vitoria Guimaraes , Benfica won with a minimum score, but the game was marred by the sudden death on the field of teammate Fissas Miklos Feher [2] .
In the summer of 2005, Fyssas left Benfica and made an unexpected decision to move to the Scottish Heart of Midlotian , despite the interest from clubs from England and Germany . In his first season with the club, he reached the final of the Scottish Cup , where he defeated Gretna . He scored his first and only goal for the Harts in a league game against Motherwell on December 9, 2006 [3] . He became a popular player on the team, fans remembered his celebration of entering the Champions League. He left the Edinburgh club at the end of the 2006/07 season to return to Panathinaikos.
Return to Greece
Returning to Panathinaikos, he played only a couple of matches for the 2007/08 season and decided to leave football. After leaving sports, Fissas entered the coaching staff of the Greek national team Otto Rehagel , helped him at the 2010 World Cup , after Rehagel resigned, he worked with the new coach Fernando Santos .
International Career
Fyssas played 60 matches for Greece and scored four goals. Fissas made his debut for the team in 1999 in a match against Finland . He scored three of four goals for the national team against Cyprus : scored twice on May 15, 2002 and scored again on January 29, 2003, in both matches Greece won 3: 1 and 2: 1, respectively. He was also one of the key players in the Greek national team, which unexpectedly won the 2004 European Championship in Portugal . Subsequently, he entered the symbolic team of the tournament.
