Kyust, Yon

Jon Kust ( Dat. Jon Kyst ; born October 27, 1969 ) is a Danish literary critic and translator.

He graduated from the University of Copenhagen (bachelor, 1993 ; master, 1996 ), he also defended his thesis ( 2004 ), a specialist in Russian and English philology. Trained at St. Petersburg University , worked at the Harriman Institute at Columbia University . Since 1995, he has led the Russian-Danish translation seminar at the University of Copenhagen; author of the university course "Russian literature in a cultural context." At the same time he works as a simultaneous translator and translator of fiction.

Kyust’s dissertation was dedicated to the work of Joseph Brodsky and was called Brodsky’s Bilingualism: Practice and Prehistory . A further development of Kust’s research in the field of Broad Studies was his block of materials “Brodsky as a subject of research: eight years later”, which he prepared for the journal New Literary Review ( 2004 , No. 67), which also included Kust's own article “ Name-dropping : about one poetical rhetorical device in the work of Joseph Brodsky. " Other Russian authors whose work Kust is studying include Andrei Bitov (article “ Andrei Bitov 's Pushkin House“ Petersburg Text ” [1] ), Alexander Skidan (report“ Alexander Skidan's Poetry ”at the 39th National Conference of the American Association for the Development of Slavic Research (AAASS), New Orleans, 2007).

Küst’s translation includes a collection of contemporary Russian poetry “Verden er en sum af fakta - en sitren - en uforklarlig skælven” (København: Forfatterskolen, 2006), including works by Arkady Dragomoshchenko , Alexander Ilyanen , Alexander Skidan and Elena Schwartz .
