Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) is the third degree in CCS after CCNA in the chain of technician , specialist , professional , expert .
The CCNP certificate indicates the ability of a specialist to install, configure and troubleshoot converged local and distributed networks, including from 100 to 500 or more nodes. CCNP qualified network professionals have demonstrated the knowledge and skills needed to manage the routers and switches of the core network, as well as the edge applications that enable the implementation of voice, wireless, and security technologies in the network.
Until July 31, 2010, in order to receive a certificate, it was necessary to pass 4 exams:
- 642–901 BSCI: Building Scalable Cisco Internetworks (BSCI): Building Scalable Cisco Interconnected Networks
- 642-812 BCMSN: Building Cisco Multilayer Switched Networks (BCMSN): Building Cisco Multilevel Switched Networks
- 642-825 ISCW: Implementing Secure Converged Wide Area Networks (ISCW): Implementing Secure Converged Distributed Networks
- 642-845 ONT: Optimizing Converged Cisco Networks (ONT): Optimizing Converged Cisco Networks

Until January 29, 2015, to pass the certificate, it was necessary to pass 3 exams:
- 642—902 ROUTE Implementing Cisco IP Routing (ROUTE)
- 642-813 SWITCH Implementing Cisco IP Switched Networks (SWITCH)
- 642-832 TSHOOT Troubleshooting and Maintaining Cisco IP Networks (TSHOOT)
From January 30, 2015 to the present, to pass the certificate, you must pass 3 exams:
- 300-101 ROUTE: Implementing Cisco IP Routing (ROUTE) v2.0
- 300-115 SWITCH: Implementing Cisco IP Switched Networks (SWITCH) v2.0
- 300–135 TSHOOT: Troubleshooting and Maintaining Cisco IP Networks (TSHOOT) v2.0
The CCNP certificate is valid for three years, its validity is automatically renewed after passing a higher level exam, for example, CCIE Written, or any exam with the prefix 642 or 300.
