Remarkable Platonia ( Latin: Platonia insignis ) is a species of deciduous trees from the genus Platonia of the Clusian family .

Description
It comes from the tropical rainforests of Brazil , Paraguay , Colombia and Guyana , grows up to 25 m, has a pyramidal crown. The bark contains a large amount of latex . Leaves are oblong or elliptical, up to 15 cm long, with wavy edges. The fruit is round, yellow-brown, with a diameter of 7.5-12.5 cm, with a thick fleshy peel containing sticky latex . Inside the fruit contains a white fragrant flesh with 1–4 large oblong black-brown seeds. The pulp of the fruit is edible: it is eaten fresh, and also used to obtain marmalade , jelly and sorbet .
