Botafogo Ribeirão Preto ( port. Botafogo Futebol Clube (SP) ) is a Brazilian football club from the city of Ribeirão Preto in the state of Sao Paulo . Often, this team is simply called “Botafogo São Paulo” - by affiliation to the state, in order to distinguish from the grand Brazilian football - “ Botafogo ” from Rio de Janeiro .

History
The club was founded on October 12, 1918 as a result of the merger of three city Ribeirão Preto teams: Unian Paulistano, Tiberense and FC Ideal. The name was given in honor of the club " Botafogo " from Rio de Janeiro. The first president of the club was the head of the Railway Company Moziana, Joaquim Galliano.
In 1962, the team made a tour of Argentina, during which she won nine matches, three times she drew and only lost two times. Among the matches stand out victories over “ Boka Juniors ” 2: 1 and over “ Estudiantes ” - 5: 2.
In 1968, the club began to perform at the 50 thousandth stadium of Santa Cruz .
In 1999–2001, the club performed in Serie A of Brazil , but then regression began and Botafogo Ribeirão Preto gradually began to descend into the Brazilian league system. Currently, the team plays only in the Serie A-2 Championship of the State of São Paulo.
