The settlement is located 40 kilometers east of the urban-type settlement Maslyanino , 9 kilometers from the border with the Altai Territory , 22 kilometers from the border with the Kemerovo Region , on the banks of the River Berd , in the spurs of the Salair ridge . Not far from the village begins Matveyevsky ridge, and in 5 kilometers to the east is the Bear hill 457 meters high.

The population of the village is 206 inhabitants ( 1996 ) [4] . Peteny takes the 25th place in terms of population among all settlements of the Maslyaninsky district.

Economy

A colored marble deposit is being developed in the vicinity of the village. The reserves for 1998 were estimated at 1.8 million m³. Since 1991, the company has been developing CJSC "Marble". Tourists are allowed to take with them the amount of minerals that they can carry [5] .

Transportation

A shuttle bus runs from Maslyanino to Peteni twice a day [6] .

Attractions

Near the village is a unique natural complex - a natural monument of regional significance "Petenevsky spruce forests" with an area of ​​589 hectares (established in 2007). Birch, fir and pine also grow in spruce forests. Spruce forests are important water conservation value, they are rare, including relict, representatives of flora and fauna. In total, 56 species of birds and 605 species of invertebrates are registered on the territory of the nature monument. Siberian Kandyk included in the Red Book of the Russian Federation grows in the spruce forests; Of the insect listed in the Red Book, there are moss bumblebees , a carpenter bee, and an Apollo butterfly in the spruce forests [7] [8] .
