Olkhovka [1] , or Olkhov ( Ukrainian: Vіlkhіvka, Vіlkhova, Olkhіvka ) - a river in the Luhansk region [2] of Ukraine . The right tributary of Lugani ( Don basin), the mouth in the territory of the city of Luhansk . The length is 83 km, the catchment area is 814 km², the slope is 3.3 m / km [3] .

The valley is trapezoidal, asymmetric, 4-6 km wide. The floodplain is up to 10 m wide. The channel is moderately winding, 4-5 m wide, 1-2 m deep.
It is used for water supply, irrigation, recreation. There are recreation centers on the banks. Reservoirs ( Elizabethan , Lugansk ) and ponds were built. The river is heavily polluted [4] . A pike is found in the river [5] .
The largest tributaries: Sukhaya Olkhovaya , Sukhaya - right.
The name comes from the word " alder " ( Ukrainian. Vilha ).
Geography
It originates from a source near the village of Ivanovka , on the northern slope of the Donetsk Ridge . It flows along the territory of the Donetsk Upland , along the territory of the Anthracite and Lutuginsky regions of the Lugansk region. It flows into the Lugan River, near the College of Transport Construction and tram rings of routes 4, 11, 13, of the city of Lugansk .
