Station Description

It is the ultimate for electric trains coming from the Finland Station in St. Petersburg . The station is oriented from north to south. At the station there are 4 tracks laid in the form of a fish park. All paths are electrified, except the first [2] . Between the second and third ways there is an island passenger platform. On the fourth path, night trains suck. The contact network ends in the northern neck of the station. The station building is located on the east side of the tracks. There are no ticket offices.
The station building houses the Museum of the Road of Life .
Behind the northern neck, a reversal triangle has been preserved, built to change the direction of movement of steam locomotives.

History

  • From 1923 to 1925 the narrow gauge railway of Petersburg Irinovka - Borisova Griva is being replaced, a wide gauge is being introduced. In these years, the Ladoga Lake station appears.
  • Until 1939 - the station was called "Lake Village" [3] .
  • On September 29, 1966 , the first electric train arrived at the station [4] .
  • By the decision of the regional executive committee No. 189 of May 16, 1988 , a steam locomotive operating south of the station, operating on the Road of Life, was recognized as a historical monument [5] .

Station

In 1974 , a new monument station was built at the Ladoga Lake station (architect E.I. Kazarnovsky), the outline of the building resembles a giant anti-tank bullet .
Under the arches of the planes converging at the top there is a small museum - a branch of the Museum of the October Railway [6] . Its exhibits tell about the valor and courage of the workers of the railway junction, all who defended the "Road of Life" with their labor and courage [3] .
