History

The first Nakhimov naval school was founded in 1944 by the Decree of the Council of People's Commissars of the USSR No. 745, dated June 21, 1944, and by order of the People's Commissar of the USSR Navy No. 280, June 23, 1944, for the device, training and education of the sons of warriors Navy, Red Army and partisans of World War II. Initially, it was only about the opening of the Tbilisi Nakhimov Naval School . But subsequently, the Leningrad and Riga Nakhimov naval schools were opened.

In 1953, the Riga Nakhimov Naval School ceased to exist, and in 1955 the Tbilisi Nakhimov Naval School ceased to exist. The only active Nakhimov naval school in the USSR was the Leningrad Nakhimov naval school .

Until 2009, only males were admitted to the school [3] , who studied English at the school as a foreign language. But in 2009, in connection with a change in the rules for recruitment [4] , the school began to recruit women. In 2014, the first graduation of the girls was made. This set was experimental and unique. Thus, 23 girls entered the history of the St. Petersburg Nakhimov Naval School.

In 2016, the Sevastopol Presidential Cadet School and the Vladivostok Presidential Cadet School became branches of the Nakhimov School, on September 1, 2017, the third branch of the school in Murmansk was opened [5] [6] . Thus, since 2017, the Nakhimov naval schools were created in all four fleets of Russia. The plans for 2019 are to open the fourth branch of the school in Dagestan under the Caspian Flotilla [7] .
