Career

Club

Until the age of 14, Ustari was a player in the Argentine club Atletico Rivadavia . From 2000 to 2005 he played for the youth squad of Independiente . The goalkeeper made his debut in the Argentine championship on October 5, 2005 in a match against Newells Old Boys , which ended in a 2-0 win for the Independente. June 10, 2007 Ustari scored a penalty in a meeting with the club “ Quilmes ”.

In July 2007, Ustari transferred to the Spanish Getafe for € 8 million [2] . Ustari was the reserve goalkeeper in the team, and his compatriot Roberto Abbondansieri got a place in the main team. On September 26, 2007, the football player officially debuted for the new club, having entered the field in a match with Valencia . The game ended with the defeat of “Getafe” with a score of 1: 2. In 2003, Ustari participated in the World Cup among youth under 17 years old , where he spent 6 matches. The Argentine goalkeeper also played all the matches for the Argentina national team for players under 20 at the Youth World Championships 2005, held in the Netherlands [5] .

On May 15, 2006, Ustari was included by the head coach of the Argentine national team, Jose Pekerman, in the team’s application for the 2006 World Cup as the third goalkeeper. At the tournament, he never had the opportunity to enter the field. On August 22, 2007, the Argentine footballer made his debut for the main team in a friendly match with Norway , which the blue and white lost with a score of 1: 2.

In 2008, Oscar Ustari took part in the victory campaign of Argentina at the Beijing Summer Olympics [5] . He spent 3 games for the team, but in the last (quarterfinal) match against the Netherlands, he was seriously injured and out of action for eight months [6] . Instead of the injured Ustari, Nicolas Navarro was announced, and in the remaining matches in the goal played Sergio Romero . As a result, the Argentine team won the tournament by defeating the Nigeria national team in the gold medal match.

Personal life

March 20, 2007 Ustari married the daughter of Ricardo Giusti , Argentinean midfielder , 1986 world champion .
