In 1996, a decision was made at Belkommunmash to create its own tram , and already in 2000 the first car, which received the designation AKSM-1M, began to carry passengers. The car is equipped with a thyristor-pulse control system ( TISU ), which saves up to 30% of electricity compared to a rheostat-contactor control system ( RCSU ). The tram uses carts produced by the Ust-Katav Carriage Works named after S. M. Kirov . In 2001, the production of trams AKSM-1M was discontinued due to the transition to a new model AKSM-60102
