Kerben ( Kyrgyz. Kerben ) is a city in Kyrgyzstan , the administrative center of the Aksy district of the Jalal-Abad region . As of January 1, 2017, the population was 28,300 people [2] [2] .

History
The village was formed in 1930 under the name Caravan . On October 4, 2004, the village was given the status of a city of regional subordination to Kerben .
Geography
The city is located in the north-west side of the regional center - the city of Jalal-Abad, at a distance of 220 km, 60 km from the railway of the city of Tash-Kumyr .
The city of Kerben is located in the center of the Aksy district , located at an altitude of 1200 meters above sea level.
The terrain is flat, rugged. The climate is continental. Winter is severe, summer is hot. The average annual temperature is +12 degrees Celsius.
Population
On the territory of the Kerben city council there are 7 settlements: Kerben , Kulukdobo, Akdobo, Zhetigen, Kurulush, Ustukan and Mamai.
The population of the city of Kerben, together with the adjacent aiyl okmotus, as of January 1, 2004 is 22,408 people, or 11.2% of the oblast population. The urban population is 13,433 people, the rural - 8975 people.
Representatives of about 19 ethnic groups live in the city, including: Kyrgyz - 19,943 people (89%), Uzbeks - 1994 people (8.9%), Russians - 314 people (1.4%), others - 157 people ( 0.7%).
