The coat of arms of East Timor was introduced on January 18, 2007 . It is based on a project that was used when a country unilaterally declared independence on November 28, 1975 .

In the center of the coat of arms is an image of a Kalashnikov assault rifle , as well as on the arms of Mozambique and Zimbabwe [1] .
The motto in Portuguese is “Unidade, Acção, Progresso” (“Unity, Action, Progress”).
