The main component, η Small Dog A , is a yellow-white class F giant with a visible brilliance of +5.22. The second, secondary component, η Canis B , is an eleventh magnitude star and is located 4 arc seconds from the main component. Star A is visible to the naked eye only to vigilant people, and B to a powerful telescope .
