He studied social psychology at the Sorbonne , and then received an economist degree at the Institute for Political Studies . After graduation, he spent two years in the army, participated in the Algerian war . After demobilization, he worked as a scientist and economist, dealing with the problems of the economy of savings, published the monograph Family Savings ( Fr. L'épargne des ménages ; 1970, together with Louis Fortran). In 1987 , he left his professional career, focusing entirely on writing.
He began to publish science fiction stories in 1955 , using the pseudonyms Gilles d'Argyre ( French Gilles d'Argyre ) and Francois Pagery ( French François Pagery ). In his work, he paid the greatest attention to the theme of time travel .
