Career
Olympia Asuncion
Roque Santa Cruz joined the Olympia club (Asuncion) children’s team at the age of nine and was her top scorer for several seasons. His successes did not go unnoticed. The head coach of the first team of Olimpia Luis Cubilla invited the fifteen-year-old Santa Cruz to the main team. The young forward's professional debut took place on July 27, 1998 in the Paraguayan classic against the Cerro Porteno at the age of sixteen. Santa Cruz’s game helped Olympia win the Paraguayan championship in 1998 and 1999. In 1999, Santa Cruz was recognized as the footballer of the year in Paraguay .
Bayern
Thanks to his excellent results at Olimpia and the national team of Paraguay, Santa Cruz signed a contract with Bayern Munich in the second half of 1999. In Munich, Santa Cruz did not particularly shine, scoring only 5 goals in his first season: several injuries and high competition in the club's line of attack did not allow him to open completely.
Nevertheless, with his participation, Bayern achieved success by winning the German Championship and Cup, the UEFA Champions League and the Intercontinental Cup .
Blackburn Rovers
Santa Cruz signed a four-year contract with Blackburn Rovers on July 28, 2007. The amount of transfer amounted to 3.5 million pounds. Santa Cruz scored a goal in his first match for Blackburn after just three touches of the ball, replacing the injured Benny McCarthy in the 2007/08 season in a match against Middlesbrough .
Roque Santa Cruz made his first hat-trick for Blackburn on December 15, 2007 in a 3–5 match against Wigan , becoming the first player in English football in more than ten years to make a hat-trick in a lost match. . In December 2007, he was named the best player of the month in the English Premier League . In his first season for Blackburn, he scored 19 goals.

On September 15, 2012, in a match against Levante , he made his debut for a new club, replacing Javier Saviola [11] . On October 7, in a duel against Atlético Madrid , Roque scored his first goal for Malaga, although this ball did not help his club achieve a positive result, 2: 1 [12] . On November 24, in a match against Valencia , Santa Cruz scored a goal and helped his team win a major victory, 4-0 [13] . On December 8, in a meeting against Granada , Roque scored one of the team’s goals and helped Malaga achieve a major home victory, 4-0 [14] .
