Golden Earring (from the English - “Golden Earring”) is a rock band formed in 1961 in The Hague , South Holland , originally (and until 1969) under the name The Golden Earrings . Golden Earring started out as a beat and pop band, but gradually weighed and complicated the sound; during the years of the greatest success, the ensemble performed hard rock with progressive elements. The international success of Golden Earring brought the hits "Radar Love" (1973), "Twilight Zone" (1982) and "When The Lady Smiles" (1984) [1] . The group, which released more than 40 hit singles and more than 30 albums with platinum status in their homeland, still exists today: Barry Hay (vocal, guitar, flute, saxophone), (vocal and guitar, founder groups), (bass guitar and keyboards) and (drums).

Group History
Two school friends, guitarist George Coymans (born March 11, 1948 , The Hague ) and bass guitarist Rinus Gerritsen (Marinus Gerritsen, born August 9, 1946 , The Hague) founded their first group in 1961. A composition called The Tornadoes , which also included guitarist Hans Van Herverden and drummer Fred Van Der Hilst, played instrumental beat music in the style of The Shadows [2] . In 1964, the group changed its name to The Golden Ear-rings . In 1965, the line-up (where Franz Krassenburg, guitarist Peter de Ponde and drummer Jaap Eggermont were playing besides Coymans and Gerritsen) debuted with the album Just Earrings , which was influenced by The Kinks and The Zombies . The single Please Go (1965) entered the first Dutch ten, followed by That Day rising to # 2, losing only to the Beatle Michelle [3] . After the release of the second Winter-Harvest album (1966), Crassenburg was replaced by Barry Hay (born August 16, 1948 , Fizabad , India ), and soon the team left De Ponde. The music of the group began to be enriched with psychedelic and art rock motifs. In 1968, Golden Earrings led the Dutch charts for the first time with the single Dong-Dong-Di-Ki-Di-Gi-Dong [2] . Success was also followed by the subsequent album Eight Miles High [3] .
By reducing the name to Golden Earring and introducing César Zuiderwijk (ex- Livin 'Blues ); he replaced Eggermont), the group went on to perform melodic hard rock, saturated with the sound of keyboards and wind instruments. Among the musicians who visited the band in the early 70s were drummer Sib Warner, guitarist Elko Gelling (former member of Cuby + Blizzards ), and saxophone player Bertus Borgers [2] . In 1972, Golden Earring performed a European tour with The Who , then signed a contract with (owned by the latter) Track Records, which released Hearing Earring , a compilation of Dutch singles that allowed the band to make the first commercial breakthrough in England [1] . The album Moontan was also released here , which many consider to be the strongest in the history of the group [2] . The single released by the single, Radar Love, became an international hit (entered the British top ten and rose to # 13 on the Billboard magazine) [1] . The group conducted several tours across the USA (accompanying, in particular, Doobie Brothers , J. Geils Band , Santana ), after which it focused its activities on the European continent [3] .
By the end of the 70s, Golden Earring had shrunk to a quartet; the popularity of the group began to fall. Interest in her work in 1982 fueled the album Cut , a single from which, Twilight Zone , became a hit in the United States and topped the Dutch charts [2] . The success of the American tour was followed by the release of another hit single, When The Lady Smiles . The song “ Radar Love ” was reborn in 1989 when it was sung by the hard rock / glam metal band White Lion . All this time, members of the main composition of the group were recorded in Europe as solo performers [1] .
In 1992, Golden Earring released the acoustic concert album The Naked Truth , in 1995 - a collection of cover versions of Love Sweat . In turn, among the bands that made covers for Golden Earring songs were - (besides White Lion), Godz (“Candy's Going Bad”), Iron Maiden (“Kill Me Ce Soir”) and Aria (“Careless Angel” on the song "Going to the Run").
In the late 1990s, the group continued to record and tour, releasing the collection Last Blast Of The Century [2] at the beginning of the millennium.
In 2008, the soloist Barry Hay together with the Dutch jazz band released the album “Barry Hay Big Band Theory”. The DVD is recorded in the same place as Naked III - in the Amsterdam club “Panama”.
On May 11, 2012, a new studio album by Tits'n'Ass was released . It is designed in the best traditions of the group of the 70s. For the first week of sales (May 19), he climbed to 1st place in the Dutch hit parade, and the single from him Still Got Keys to My Cadillac reached # 17 [1] .
