History

The Svarga group was founded at the end of 1997 in the city of Zhukovsky near Moscow and was originally conceived as a collective performing Russian-language pagan - doom-metal , with lyrics based on ancient Slavic history. As such, the group lasted until 1999 , after which the style was changed towards pagan folk metal . The keys in the group were replaced by the Hurry accordionist, and Svarga's sound became softer. An abundance of folklore elements and acoustic inserts can be considered a distinctive feature of the group.

In 2000, the band’s own recorded demo, “Across the Dead River,” which was sold in small numbers. The composition “Through the Dead River” essentially reflects the ominous mystical mood of all the group’s work. From 2000 to 2004 , despite changes in composition, the team actively performed in Moscow and the Moscow region with the teams of Arkon , Alkonost , Rossomahaar , Shadow Host , Troll Gnet Yel , and other groups.

In the fall of 2005, the debut album “ Lights on the Barrows ” was released, which included compositions invented and arranged from 1998 to 2002 . The album was recorded at the SDM Records studio , after which the group began to collaborate with Svasound records . In addition to the main line-up, session musicians also participated in the creation of the album: A. Razikov - harp , I. Kuzmin - keyboards , Masha Scream - backing vocals ( Arkona ). According to the results of 2005, according to the version of the Dark City magazine, Svarga won a large number of votes in the nomination "Discovery of the Year", thereby entering the top ten. On December 22, 2007, the presentation of the second album, “ Where the Forests Doze ”, also released on the SvaSound records label, took place . The invited musicians were Aleksey Bolshov (group of legacies of vagantas ) - block flute , Spanish bagpipe ( gaita gallega , miserable and a number of other wind instruments); Fedor Vetrov ( Wind of Water ) - viola , Ksenia ( Kalevala ) - back vocals and Masha Scream ( Arkona ), who used her own growling . The recording, mixing and mastering of “ Where the Woods Doze ” was made at Moscow Sound Studio under the direction of Sergey Lazar ( Arkon , Rossomahaar ) and Sergey Levchenko, who also contributed to the album material in the form of several keyboard parts.

In 2009, the acoustic album "Blood-River" was recorded, which included unpublished compositions that have accumulated over the history of the group. In 2011 , after an almost two-year break in creativity, the group reunited in a new composition. A new album is currently being recorded.
