Vasily Efimovich Bureev (1825-1888, September 25 according to the old style) - Samara mayor (February 1871 —May 1873 ).
Biography
Born in an Orthodox merchant family. All of his closest relatives belonged to the merchant estate . It is not surprising that Vasily Efimovich also chose trade as his main occupation. However, in terms of education, Bureyev Jr. initially surpassed his parents: he managed to complete the course at the Samara National District School .
Work and social activities
From April 9, 1852 to 1859 , Bureev served as treasurer and director of the prison guard committee . Since then, the care of prisons has become one of his most important tasks. In addition to the prison service, Vasily Efimovich was engaged in social activities and charity . At the same time, he worked in the board of trustees at the hospital for the order of public charity.
February 3, 1871 Bureev became the Mayor
Taking advantage of the position of the city mayor , Vasily Efimovich actively developed his business . In 1864 , on the condition of 99 years of duty, Bureev was allocated a plot of urban land on the banks of the Volga with an area of about 0.9 square kilometers. On this territory, the merchant soon built his own brewery. However, due to the resignation of the mayor in May 1873, he apparently lost his rights to a plot of land with a brewery, which, apparently, was transferred to the ownership of the city.
Later on, Alfred Filippovich von Wakano built the Zhigulevsky brewery on this site, which still exists.
After leaving office
After the final resignation of the mayor in 1873 , V. E. Bureev continued to engage in entrepreneurial activity . He rented out his second house, in the 3rd part of Samara , under the premises of one of the prisons , which was mentioned in documents of 1870 - 1879 . In addition, Vasily Efimovich was the owner of two orchards and a stone shop in the 1st part of Samara .
