Trilingual heresy

Trilingual heresy is the name for the doctrine of the possibility of the existence of Holy Scripture exclusively in the languages in which the inscription on the Cross of Christ was made [1] : Jewish , Greek and Latin [2] .

It is mentioned in the life of Cyril and Methodius in connection with their translations of liturgical texts at the foundation of Slavic churches and oppositions of such a teaching.

According to the life of Cyril:

... hear my prayer and keep Thy faithful flock, which shepherd thou made me a sinful and unworthy Thy servant. Deliver this flock from all godlessness and ungodliness and from any eloquent heretical language that speaks of You blasphemy. Destroy the trilingual heresy and grow your church in multitude. ”
